Recruiting with Whatsapp

Chances are if you recruit outside the USA you have messaged a candidate on Whatsapp at some point.

Whatsapp is a personal messaging application that is more poplar in Europe, Asia and other countries but is not widely used in the U.S. Here, texting rules the candidate messaging pipeline.

Did YoU kNoW? Two billion WhatsApp users access the app on a monthly basis.

Talent software company Sense recently announced the integration of WhatsApp for Sense Messaging, allowing recruiters to easily communicate with more candidates on the platform. The new feature allows for 1:1 conversations and broadcast messages through WhatsApp while leveraging the collaboration and intelligence built into Sense Messaging today.

The addition of WhatsApp to Sense Messaging enhances the recruiter and candidate experience by allowing them both to have conversations on the messaging platform they prefer while taking advantage of shared inboxes, Chrome extension replies, mobile app communication as well as the other tech-based solutions within Sense Messaging.

“While SMS is popular in the U.S., international recruiters communicate with candidates via other messaging platforms including WhatsApp,” explained Alex Rosen, Sense Head of Product and Co-Founder. “Adding this feature to Sense Messaging expands our reach to the global enterprise market and enables recruiters everywhere to communicate with candidates on the talent engagement platform most preferred by our enterprise customers,” he added.

This type of integration offers time savings with broadcast ability along with the ability to send 1:1 messages. There is a separate tab for Whatspp messages and SMS ones.

Here’s a few more specific details about how it works.

The rules for SMS vary a lot around the world. Which countries can your users use SMS and Whatsapp vs. Whatsapp only?

Our service providers document the most common countries across Europe and Latin America as well as throughout North America. Additionally, we have the ability to request numbers from any other counties, based on our customer's needs, making our WhatsApp feature a global messaging product to support our ongoing network expansion.

Does Meta allow Sense customers to have as many Whatsapp enabled numbers as they want for all their recruiters? In researching the topic, I've read about potential limitations.

We're currently limited to 120 WhatsApp senders per business registration. We can support both personal and shared WhatsApp numbers.

Many other Rec Tech vendors have already added Whatsapp support including Fountain, Hirevue, and Paradox.
